Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. My name is Tonya, and I’ve been grooming dogs and cats since 1996.
In 1999, my brother-in-law, Tony, built a grooming room for me in my garage in Fenton, Michigan, and that’s where Tonya’s Tender Touch was born. More than two decades later, our business remains small, personal, and rooted in that same original grooming space.
Over the years, Tonya’s Tender Touch has grown almost entirely through word of mouth. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust our clients have placed in us, and as our family of clients grew, I realized I could no longer do it all on my own. Today, I’m proud to have a wonderful team of groomers who share my commitment to providing exceptional care for every pet who comes through our doors.
We listen closely to our clients and take the time to understand exactly how they would like their pets groomed. Our grooming style is best described as gentle and meticulous, with a strong focus on both beautiful results and your pet’s comfort.
We do not use cages, and we intentionally keep the number of pets in the salon low. Having only a couple of dogs on the premises at a time allows us to provide a calmer, more personalized, and low-stress grooming experience.
One of the greatest compliments we receive is the loyalty of our clients. We are honored to continue grooming second- and even third-generation pets for families who have trusted us for years. Those relationships are what make this business so special to me.

Meet our groomers
Laura joined our grooming team in 2024, bringing with her a passion for animals and several years of hands-on grooming experience. Her professional grooming career began in 2021, and it was clear to me from her very first interview that her love for pets and genuine compassion for animals would make her a wonderful addition to our team.
Laura first entered the pet care industry by working at a salon that groomed therapy dogs for her school district. She also gained valuable experience working with family and friends, providing baths and grooming services. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to work alongside several experienced professionals, continually developing and refining her skills as a groomer of both dogs and cats.
One of her favorite services to provide is a de-shed transformation. She loves seeing the difference that a thorough grooming can make and takes pride in helping pets look and feel their best. Laura truly enjoys getting to know each client and their pets, finding the best approach to create beautiful grooming results while always making the pet’s comfort and well-being a priority.
Laura’s kindness and genuine care for our clients, combined with her attention to detail, are qualities that are truly special. We feel very blessed to have Laura as part of our team.

Mattie joined our grooming team in 2025, bringing with her a lifelong love of dogs and several years of professional grooming experience. Dogs have always been a big part of Mattie’s life, and her genuine love for them shines through in the way she cares for each pet she meets.
She began her professional grooming career at PetSmart in 2021 and completed their grooming academy program in 2022. Since then, she has had the opportunity to groom many different breeds, gaining valuable experience and continuing to grow her skills as a groomer.
One of Mattie’s favorite parts of grooming is meeting new dogs and their owners and getting to know each pet’s unique personality. She loves helping them look and feel their very best and takes great pride in making their grooming experience as comfortable and positive as possible.
Mattie has a naturally sweet and gentle way with the dogs in her care. She is extremely careful, patient, and attentive, always treating each pet as if they were her own.
We are so happy to have her as part of our team. Her love for dogs, caring heart, and dedication to her craft make her a wonderful addition to Tonya’s Tender Touch.

We do our very best to schedule appointments as quickly as possible however, available spots fill quickly. We ask that you plan and call a couple of weeks in advance to schedule when your pet will need grooming. Contacting us early to a schedule will ensure a time that works best for you.
